Well, May has rolled around again, which means you’ll be able to find me at the following events around Toronto, talking about comics, Jellaby, and (most likely) doing a fair bit of drawing as well. So come on out and say hello!
- May 8 & 9: the Toronto Comics Art Festival, located at the Toronto Reference Library (789 Yonge St.). As always, admission is FREE! I’ll also be on the following panel on Sunday:
TCAF KidsDraw: Fantasy
Sunday, May 9th, 4:00pm-4:45pm, Novella Room
Join Kean Soo (Jellaby and Jellaby: Monster in the City) and Scott Chantler (Three Thieves Book 1: Tower of Treasure) as they show off their fantasy drawing skills – from ferocious monsters and imaginary creatures to heroic warriors and evil villains.
- May 13: 7PM at the Maple Public Library in Vaughan (10190 Keele St.), for Asian Heritage Month. I haven’t decided yet, but I might just do an advance reading from my new Jellaby story that will be appearing in the forthcoming Flight 7 anthology
, debuting in July!
And here’s an illustration that accompanied a fun little piece about making comics in the March issue of OWL Magazine (alongside wonderful folk like Jeff Smith and Raina Telgemeier). I remember reading issues of OWL when I was a kid, it’s amazing to me how different the magazine is nowadays.
